Since the grand opening in 2007, The Wonder Room at Selfridges in London has become one of the most sought after shopping destinations in the world for luxury watch brands and precious jewellery, showcasing one-of-a-kind pieces from the world's most desirable brands within it's expansive, neoclassical-style hall.
Challenge
To create an invitation which encapsulated the Selfridges Rocks Christmas scheme, whilst reflecting the luxury of the brands within the Wonder Room.
Our challenge was to produce a 'white' image out of 4 colour process onto GF Smith, Curious Metals Gold Leaf to the face, with gold textmatter on a solid black reverse.
Solution
Working alongside Selfridges design team, we created a unique 2-page invitation involving 2 pieces of material fuse laminated (duplexed) together to fabricate a 700gsm thickness.
The face sheet was gold foiled and die cut to create the shooting star within the gold substrate. Having printed the four colour design onto one side of a white sheet, and solid black on the reverse, the textmatter was gold foiled and both sheets duplexed to add some rock-star decadence.
Special care had to be taken with the gluing to ensure a perfect, high quality finish with no seepage of the adhesive within the star.
Result
Luxury brands in partnership with Selfridges sponsored the festivities, and guests were provided with nibbles, cocktails and a surprise musical performance.
We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both the client and all individuals who had the opportunity to view the invitation. Their responses were filled with praise and appreciation for the experience.
